Gym Class for the Mind

Breath Circle is a health and wellbeing organization, teaching mindful breathing in schools and workplaces across Australia.

Better students.
Better people.

Good health and wellbeing practices are vital for learning and living. Research shows mindful breathing can improve prosocial behaviour, develop emotional regulation, increase resilience and academic performance. This can then positively impact physical and mental wellbeing, personal relationships and education.

Good for the grey matter.

Mindful breathing functions as a circuit breaker. It helps our nervous system shift from the sympathetic ‘fight or flight’ response to the parasympathetic ‘rest and digest’ response. Evidence suggests that regular breathwork strengthens brain areas related to attention and ‘executive function’.

Tools for the classroom & life.

Mindful breathing teaches kids how to shift emotional states. This is a practice that can be used to settle a classroom and foster calm, focussed attention. It’s also an empowering tool to take into everyday life as this kind of breathwork can lessen anxiety and relieve stress.

Monash University & Breath Circle

Listening to the Elements is a community-engaged project by Breath Circle, supported by the Monash Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies (M3CS). It brings together original contemplative music, breathwork, and elemental meditation in a shared, immersive experience.

Performed by an ensemble of Melbourne-based musicians, the program features six original compositions by Benjamin Dix, Gidi Ifergan, and Shaun Rigney, each inspired by one of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space, enhancing their harmonisation. Guided breath and mindfulness practices, led by Beata Heymann of Breath Circle, support a deep, embodied experience of each element, generating clarity, vitality, and inner connection.
